In the last lesson, we learned the artificial and racist nature of the development of positive law from the Paris Peace Conference and the establishment of the League of Nations. In this lesson, we see how New Afrikans such as W.E.B. DuBois, Marcus Garvery and others engaged the European power during the creation of the League of Nations and repudiated its Mandates system.

We also look at the further development of Marcus Garvey’s relationship with the international system and how other world events factored into this period leading up to the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935.
